How to Clean Your Cutting Board
Keeping Your Cutting Board Clean
Proper cleaning extends the life of your cutting board and keeps it hygienic. Follow these tips to keep your board in top condition.
Daily Cleaning
After each use, wash your board with warm soapy water and a sponge or brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a towel — never leave your board soaking in water.
Deep Cleaning
For a deeper clean, sprinkle coarse salt over the surface and rub with half a lemon. The salt acts as an abrasive while the lemon juice deodorizes and disinfects naturally.
Removing Odors
Rub the board with a cut lemon or a paste of baking soda and water. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse and dry.
What to Avoid
- Never put your wooden cutting board in the dishwasher
- Never submerge it in water
- Avoid harsh chemical cleaners
After Cleaning
Once your board is clean and dry, apply Ben's Board Balm to replenish the wood's natural oils and keep it protected.
